Search for a printhead repair service or replace your damaged print head with a new one. Which is the better choice?
Let us consider a 9 pin printhead for example. The 9 printhead wires
are loaded differently during the printing process. Normally the heavily loaded are
the first, third, fourth and seventh print head wires. To learn why, see the printing process. These printhead wires work about 4 times more
than the rest of the wires. That is the reason that these print head wires get damaged first.
If someone repair this printhead by changing these damaged wires, this will bring a new life for your print head. Our statistics show that a printhead after repair prints between 8 to 12 months in heavy-loaded applications, such as banking for example, while a new printhead survive about one year in the same conditions. So, you decide if to use printhead repair services or to buy a new one, when your print head damages one day.
If the CPU is the heart of a computer, then the printhead is the engine of
a dot matrix printer. Any matrix print head uses electro-magnetic field to fire
the print head wires. There are two main print head engineering technologies - in the first
one electro-magnetic field shoots the printhead's wire. In the second one, the
so called permanent magnet printheads, a spring shoots the printhead wire and
the magnetic field just holds the spring in stressed and ready to shoot printhead
wire position. When the electro-magnetic field equalizes the magnetic field, the
spring is released to shoot the wire. In general the permanent magnet printheads
are faster and are used in heavy-duty printers. Some of the most popular print
heads of this type are: Epson DFX, IBM 4226, Fujitsu 5600 and 6400, and all Oki printheads. Do you want to see, how they work?
In general the printhead producers give about 200 million characters for the
print head life. That means such print-head will print about 42000 full printed
A4 pages (60 rows with 80 characters per row). If we consider that we
must print them in one year, that means about 3500 pages monthly or
about 160 pages daily (22 working days per month). In fact not every page contains
4800 printed characters, so the print-head' life in pages will be a little
