is a simple file, which helps you to test the print head of any Epson or compatible 24(9) pin printer.
All dot-matrix printers have an Epson Emulation. To do this you must first download and save the file bellow:
on your hard drive. Running this self-extracting
archive will extract these files:
mm9test.prn; mm9test.bat; mm24test.prn; mm24test.bat; readme.txt;
on your hard disk, in directory C:\TEST by default. To test the print head and your printer read
readme.txt file or follow these instructions.
In DOS environment
- Connect your 24/9 pin dot matrix printer to the PC.
- Feed it with paper.
- Turn on the PC in DOS mode and enter into the directory where these files are saved.
- Turn the printer power on and set it on line.
- Type at the command prompt: "mm9test" for 9 pin or "mm24test" for 24 pin printer and then press"Enter".
In Win95/98/2000 environment
- Connect your 24/9 pin dot matrix printer to the PC.
- Feed it with paper.
- Turn on the PC, start Windows Explorer and explore the directory where these files are saved.
- Turn the printer power on and set it on line.
- In Windows Explorer window double-click the "mm9test.bat" or "mm24test.bat" file.
Your printer will print several lines on which every printhead's wire prints a separate short horizontal line.
If you see all these lines bellow the pin numbers, your
printer is O.K. If some of these horizontal lines are missing, you will need a
repair service due to one of the following reasons: Damaged printhead. Damaged
printhead's cable. Damaged printer power drivers.
Uninstallation:
Simply delete these 5 files:
