Print head repair services
There are few places where this service is available, even only for
some models. In some services you may hear that "print head repair for this model is impossible". This is not the case,
print head repair is possible for all types and models
, it is another question that there are only few services which can do it, and give you a warranty for this. However the best practice is to call
for service when you see the first signs of damage in printheads. Repair
for seriously damaged printheads is expensive and sometimes really impossible!
Three months warranty you may have when you use our service.
To avoid print heads repair use quality ribbons!
Print heads are very sensitive from the type of ribbons you use. These textile tapes, used as consumable
in dot matrix printers are made by special technologies. They are impregnated with ink and special oils, which
lubricate the print head wires during printing. While print head works, the
quantity of ink and lubricant in ribbon exhausts, and the quality of printed matter gradually
declines. When this quantity goes down below certain limits the ribbon begins wear to
threads. These fine textile fibers mix with cellulose filaments from the paper
and form a dark gray dust. This is a sure sign that the ribbon is dangerously
worn and must be changed with a new one.
Otherwise you will soon need a print head repair service.
The same problems you may have with "old" ribbons, because after time the
lubricants and inks get dry. The usage of "worn" or "dry" ribbon leads to
difficult movement of the printhead's wires, its quick wear or crush. If you
wish to use your printhead for a long time without any problems, you must use a
quality ribbons with an original guarantee.
Never use re-inked old ribbons.
This surely guides you to print head repair or to buy a new one.
It is a good idea to read the User's Guide for your printer, if you have not
already done so. If you don't succeed in finding it, then carefully look at your
printer and try to find the lever for printhead positioning, it controls
the printhead gap. You must adjust manually this gap in correspondence with
the number of printed copies. In most dot matrix printers there is a mark for the head position:
- when you use one copy
- when you use two copies
- when you use three copies etc.
If there is no mark on your printer, then probably the nearest printhead position
corresponds to one printed copy, the second - to two printed copies, etc. The work of the
printhead with smaller or larger printhead gap leads to great wear of printhead's wires and shortage of printhead's life.
Normal warranty for a dot matrix printer is one year. Not always this warranty
includes the printhead. Resellers excuse themselves, not without a reason, that they don't
know if you use the right ribbon for your printhead. Almost no one gives you
warranty when you buy a new printhead, for the same reason. But if this new
printhead damages, everything is possible, they won't replace it with a new printhead
because there is no warranty.
